Question:
Dear Dr. Dwarf,
I Just found your website and am so happy to be able to get some help for my Dwarf Car.
My problem is with suspension. I run a 1/4 mile clay oval, I have a GSXR 1127, and
Hoosier dirt stocker tires. When I go into the corner, my car tends to get loose and
wants to spin out. What do you suggest to correct this handling problem?
Signed, Charlie
Answer:
Charlie, there are many variables that can cause this problem. The first
thing I would check is your stagger. With Hoosier dirt stocker tires, you will normally
have between 1 1/2" to 2" of stagger in the rear. Try to decrease your current stagger by
approx. 1/2". Next, check the right front spring and shock. After a hot lap session, check
the stop on your shock to make sure it is not travelling the full length of the shock.
If it is, your spring is probably too soft. Try the next size spring up on the right
front. Try these few things and if the problem persists, let me know and we will try more
advanced set up.

Question:
Dr. Dwarf,
I have a brake question for you. I have a Toyota rear end with one stock brake on the left
side. I sometimes have problems stopping my car to avoid a wreck. What type brakes would
you suggest for quicker stopping?
Signed, John
Answer:
John, One rear brake is usually not enough to stop your car in a hurry as you are finding
out. I would recommend you go to at least 2 rear brakes and, depending on what tracks you
are running, even 4 wheel brakes. This is true especially on Asphalt tracks. I recommend
Wilwood dynalite brakes. These brakes are designed for the racing application and I have
had great success with the product. You may want to check the size of your master cylinder
when installing new brakes to insure that you have enough volume through the master
cylinder. Check out the 7/8 master cylinder from wilwood. This is a good combination with
2 rear brakes. Both of these items are listed in the Brakes
section on the parts page here at DwarfWorld. Good
luck.
